Hello, everyone! I am Pedro Reyes, and today, I want to share my vision for a better future for all of us in New Jersey. But before I do, let me ask you some thought-provoking questions.
Have you ever felt frustrated in a job where co-workers weren’t held accountable for their performance?
Have you worked in a position that lacked the drive to innovate and achieve tangible results?
Have you experienced the disappointment of your needs not being met by those in authority?
If you’ve answered “yes” to these questions, you know the frustration many people feel towards politicians.
Allow me to introduce myself properly—I am not a career politician. Instead, I am a dedicated leader with an unwavering passion for serving the people of New Jersey.
journey began in the Dominican Republic, where I was born and raised. However, due to financial hardships, my family migrated to Orlando, Florida when I was just sixteen years old. Growing up in a hardworking family has given me a deep understanding of the challenges our community faces.
My parents instilled a strong work ethic in me and taught me the value of being a contributing member of society. I relentlessly pursued personal growth and honed my business skills, all thanks to the guidance of some remarkable mentors who saw the drive and ambition within me. Starting as a humble machine operator, I pushed myself to achieve greatness, and by the age of thirty-one, I proudly held the position of one of the youngest plant managers in a Fortune 500 company.
Throughout my journey, I learned the significance of giving back and mentoring the next generation. Now, it is my heartfelt duty to repay the country that has provided boundless opportunities to me and my family. My experiences have shaped me into the person I am today—a leader who understands the struggles of ordinary people and is determined to make a positive impact on their lives.
Now, I call New Jersey my home—a wonderful place to raise a family, but one that comes with its challenges. Our state’s property taxes rank among the highest nation, purportedly to fund an exceptional educational system. Yet, we face a recurring issue: the bright minds we invest in leave the state because they can’t afford to stay. Together, we can retain our talented workforce and address the high cost of living, ensuring families flourish in their home state.
I believe there’s a better way—a more efficient solution to control property taxes while preserving our top-notch education. We need to introduce fresh ideas and processes to keep progressing. That’s why I wholeheartedly support term limits for all legislative members. Two terms or four years provide more than enough time for our representatives to make a meaningful impact.
Imagine a system that allows you, the voter, to have a scorecard, helping you make informed decisions about your representative’s performance. That’s what I envision—a simple system tailored for you to get the right information about your candidate.
Additionally, I propose an open-door policy, where “YOU”—the people I serve—can approach me with your concerns. We must remember that all elected officials work for the people. I understand your frustration with empty promises and politicians only showing up during election time. Together, we can change that and build a brighter future for our community and State.
“A government by the people, for the people”—those powerful words can become a reality if we unite and demand accountability from our representatives. Let’s restore the true meaning of representation and create a brighter future for all in New Jersey.
Together, we can unlock the full potential of our state, providing the necessary support for families and businesses to thrive. So, let’s stand united and make a difference!
